Philadelphia Ranked #4 in the US for STD Prevalence, Is Poverty To Blame?
Ranked #4 among cities leading in highest sexually transmitted disease stats, Philadelphia, PA keeps increasing their ranks year by year.
STD’s like syphilis, gonorrhea and Chlamydia have been among the leading infections reported among Philadelphia resident and is steadily increasing. STD prevalence correlated strongly with lack of education and high poverty rates.
Since Philadelphia also ranks high in poverty, particularly in minority communities, it is not shocking the city would rank among the ighest reported STD cases. Rates are seen to increase within minority communities with higher poverty levels, including Latinos and African American communities ranking among the highest.
